"Steel your nerves, step forth into the approaching abyss. Cross the threshold from daylight without end into untold darkness. Warped lands within threaten your sanity, and a writhing wyrm tests your mettle. But here, in the darkness, is where secrets are brought to light and motives are made clear. Are your friends who they claim to be? They all look to you. What story will your banner tell?" - Kickstarter description
The game is for mature audiences. Form relationships and make tough decisions (no sex or swearing). Build a roster of over 40 unique characters. Each has their own set of abilities and combat style. Decide who to group together for the best synergy. Choices in the game have a huge effect on the story. Players will decide who lives and dies and what is worth saving.
The Banner Saga draws heavily from Norse culture and mythology with a touch of Viking elements (no horned helmets). In this last game of the trilogy, players will find themselves exploring The Darkness. The landscape is stunning, albeit bleak. The art is hand drawn in 2D and animated using old-fashioned techniques. The reasoning was to make the game look and feel similar to the previous games in the series.
